Dear <<First Name>> ,
Kia Ora, Warm greetings from the India New Zealand Business Council. I am happy to introduce this first newsletter of 2023 with the observation that the tide is turning positively on bilateral relations between New Zealand and India.
We are all aware that trade follows dialogue. The last six months has seen a notable ramping up of formal engagement between both country’s senior government Ministers and Officials. Having met with our Foreign Minister Hon Nanaia Mahuta during her February visit to India, I can comfortably say I am encouraged her commitment to forging stronger bilateral relationship with India.
At the same time, INZBC is in the advanced stages of preparing a comprehensive submission to government, outlining practical steps and initiatives which the business community, already engaged with India see as priority steps in taking trade and cultural and social integration to the next level. I remain very optimistic that 2023 will be a productive year in building stronger ties between New Zealand and India on multiple fronts.
Meanwhile, a delegation of Pharma companies recently visited New Zealand, from India. They were hosted by the Indian High Commission & INZBC in Wellington, to seek partnerships and alliances to export and distribute Indian manufactured medicines. The delegation was organised by the umbrella body of Pharma companies in India - Pharmexcil.
2023 will see a series of business engagement meetings, with our next event in Christchurch. INZBC Christchurch will be hosting a networking event on 16 March 2023, with the Indian High Commissioner, HE Neeta Bhushan as the chief guest. Please save the date, and RSVP below to attend.
All of our events provide great business networking opportunities. and I encourage all members to watch for incoming notices of events being held, and look forward to your attendance over the course of the year.
Thanks & Regards,
Earl Rattray Chair, INZBC

What is Cyclone Gabrielle Recovery Visa Instituted by NZ Government?
On February 2023, severe Tropical Cyclone Gabrielle hit New Zealand and had a devastating impact, causing an estimated NZ$13 billion (US$8.12 billion) in damages.
The New Zealand Government, in response, has announced the launch of the Recovery Visa (a sub-type of the Specific Purpose or Event Work Visa) for migrant workers, effective 24 February 2023, to assist with recovery efforts in the wake of the devastation left behind.
This short-term visa will allow New Zealand employers to sponsor migrants to come to New Zealand to work on the emergency response.
